Sewage Flow Regulator & Odour Control Products
Storm water flow control is critical to maintaining adequate capacity in sewage systems and water treatment plants during periods of high water levels. Controlling the overflow of storm water is also necessary to prevent pollution from flowing into lakes and streams. During periods of high capacity, controlling sewer odours is also necessary.
Plas-Tech Fabrications manufactures patent-pending products for storm water flow control, sewage odour control, and controlling floatable debris from entering into the pipe leads.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
Our Turbo Vortex and Odour Control flow regulator valve and inlet control devices are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a UV inhibitor. HDPE is a thermoplastic that has good tensile and high impact strength, along with excellent chemical and corrosion resistance, making it an ideal material for this application.
Some of the benefits of HDPE for applications such as flow regulator valves, storm water flow control, inlet control devices and sewer fluid traps include:
- UV inhibitor ensures products will weather well even when stored outdoors
- Provides excellent resistance to breakage in cold and warm temperatures
- Wears well under use, such as during maintenance
- Lightweight and cost effective
- Resistant to chemicals and corrosion
We offer these products in two fabrication formats:
- Injection moulded with welded joints
- Vacuum formed with welded joints
Turbo Vortex Flow Control Regulator
Turbo Vortex is our patent-pending flow regulator valve/inlet control device. Made of HDPE with a UV inhibitor, it provides much greater resilience than PVC, particularly in cold temperatures. It is also lightweight, cost effective, weathers well and withstands the stress of repeated removal for maintenance purposes.
Turbo Vortex is available in two capacities to suit your storm water flow control needs:
- 10L per second flow
- 6L per second flow
This exceptional water regulator product was designed in collaboration with a City of Ottawa rehabilitation technologist. It has also been environmentally engineered to ensure proper rating curves and theoretical outflow. It features:
- No metal parts, providing for lower maintenance, greater durability and longer life
- Universal back plate or extension adaptor with rubber D-ring plus gasket to fit with no modifications
- Dove-tailed ribs for the handle plate to slide and snap into place
- Non-stick slip surface handle plate offers easy removal for maintenance purposes
- Stainless steel anchor bolts to easily attach the device to the catch basin and prevents rust
- Aluminum rivets
- All required gaskets for a water-tight fit
Our extension adaptor is designed for use with older infrastructure so that the product can be installed for a water-tight fit with older 600mm diameter cylindrical/round-shaped cement catch basins.
Odour Trap Sewer Fluid Trap
Odour Trap is our patent-pending sewer fluid trap. Made of HDPE with a UV inhibitor, it provides much greater resilience than PVC, particularly in cold temperatures. It is also lightweight, cost effective, weathers well and withstands the stress of repeated removal for maintenance purposes.
This sewer odour trap was designed in collaboration with City of Ottawa rehabilitation technology team for use in applications of 15L per second to 100L per second water flow. It has also been environmentally engineered to ensure proper rating curves and theoretical outflow. It features:
- No metal parts, providing for lower maintenance, greater durability and longer life
- Universal back plate or extension adaptor with rubber D-ring plus gasket to fit with no modifications
- Dove-tailed ribs for the handle plate to slide and snap into place

Extension Adaptor for Older Infrastructures
Both the Turbo Vortex and Odour Trap inlet control devices can be used with older infrastructure by installing our extension adaptor. The adaptor provides a water-tight fit with older 600mm diameter cylindrical/round-shaped cement catch basins.
A closed-cell gasket between the extension adaptor/back plate and cement catch basin ensures that water does not escape between the extension and catch basin. Also, a solid rubber D-ring in between the dove-tailed ribs is to ensure a water tight fit when installing and removing the unit for maintenance.
